Description:
In this fast moving presentation, we will explore a wide variety of multiple-switch and multiple-user software activities that promote social interaction, reinforce basic access skills and, most of all, are fun and engaging for all participants. This is not about step-scanning! These skills include communication, cooperation and social etiquette, turn taking, prolonged attention to a task, differentiating switch functions, timing and matching. Through specific software examples (Macintosh, Windows and iPads), we will demonstrate how users of similar ability can play competitive games, as well as games that are perfectly suited for players of vastly different skills. In order to maximize our opportunities for successful interaction, we will be focusing on the most engaging activities in which the students control the computer (not the other way around).
