Indeed, deciding what we want students to learn is a critical first step in the technology integration process. After the teacher has articulated an instructional goal, attention turns to locating appropriate technology, media, and materials and then obtaining reviews about each product.

Introduction to AT Coordinators book mark collections
By
Dave Edyburn
Preview:
How much time do you spend trying to track down information about effective assistive technology (AT) practices? Or, looking for the address and phone number of a vendor? Or, exploring whether or not someone else has already created an assessment procedure that could be modified for use in your organization? Most people will agree the World Wide Web has revolutionized the way we go about looking for information. However, as an assistive technology leader in your school district or agency, have you noticed how some searches still leave you empty handed? Despite the availability of tremendous information resources on the Web, the AT profession has yet to validate the information in ways that sort the wheat from the chaff.Wouldn't it be wonderful if someone who really understood all the demands placed on AT Coordinators created a resource to help manage the information an AT Coordinator needs to know? To help fill this void, Closing The Gap is pleased to announce a new project, "The Closing The Gap Essential Bookmark Collection for AT Coordinators." The purpose of the project is to solicit input from assistive technology specialists throughout the world about the information demands they encounter in their work and how specific Web resources facilitate their work. Project planners envision the project will result in a bookmark collection that AT Coordinators can access to locate the very best of the best Web sites related to technology and disabilities.Closing The Gap readers are invited to participate in the project in one of two ways.

Search Tips:
There are a few special characters that you can use to provide more specific search criteria. Click on a character to learn how you can use it to enhance your searches.
Show All
Special Characters
+ (plus sign)
A leading plus sign indicates that this word must be present in each row that is returned.
Example: +apple +juice
Find records that contain both the words apple and juice.
- (minus sign)
A leading minus sign indicates that this word must not be present in any of the rows that are returned.
Note: The - operator acts only to exclude rows that are otherwise matched by other search terms. Thus, a boolean-mode search that contains only terms preceded by - returns an empty result. It does not return "all rows except those containing any of the excluded terms."
Example: +apple -juice
Find records that contain the word apple but not the word juice.
* (asterisk)
The asterisk serves as the truncation (or wildcard) operator. Unlike the other operators, it should be appended to the word to be affected. Words match if they begin with the word preceding the * operator.
Example: apple*
Find rows that contain words such as "apple", "apples", "applesauce", or "applet".
() (parentheses)
Parentheses group words into subexpressions. Parenthesized groups can be nested.
Example: +apple -(sauce dumpling)
Find rows that contain the word "apple", but not the words "sauce" or "dumpling".
"" (double quotes)
A phrase that is enclosed within double quote (") characters matches only rows that contain the phrase literally, as it was typed. When words are NOT in quotes, each word is searched for independently.
Example: "apple pie"
Find rows that contain the phrase "apple pie".
