Visual Impact for Windows

The very first AbleLink commercial product, Pocket Coach, was released 20 years ago with a single concept in mind: Changing lives through technology. The task-prompting approach has grown over the years to mobile apps and now Visual Impact for Windows, always staying faithful to our commitment to easy-to-use software. Step-by-step instructions through images, audio, and video offer people with cognitive barriers a gateway to computer use.

Visual Impact interfaces with the public AbleLink Learning Library, a free online repository that offers dozens of tasks you can download for use with the software. Once downloaded, tasks can be presented within Visual Impact or as buttons on the companion Smart Living Desktop software. Task playback is designed to provide a clean interface for people to follow along, carrying out daily activities in a complete and consistent fashion.

Users of the Visual Impact 3 app (available on iOS or Android) can create their own customized content. These tasks can be uploaded to the public Learning Library and then downloaded for use within Visual Impact on Windows. AbleLink developers are also working on a built-in authoring tool that will be provided as a free upgrade to Visual Impact users, allowing them to create custom content within the Windows program.

Visual Impact is available as stand-alone software but is ideally deployed as part of the Smart Living Suite 3.0. The Smart Living Suite includes all five of the current AbleLink software programs for Windows, designed to interact through the Smart Living Desktop.

Smart Living Email

Smart Living Email is your gateway to communication with friends, family, and employers! The picture and audio interface allows for email use without typing, reading, drop-down menus, and ads. You can even set the program to accept messages only from contacts (no more spam!).

At AbleLink Smart Living Technologies, we strive to provide a clutter-free program that makes computer use easier than ever before. Everyone needs to use email, but for individuals with cognitive barriers to computer use, standard interfaces can be complex and frustrating to navigate. Smart Living Email masks this complexity by sitting on top of the Windows operating system, providing the user with a clean, simple interface that can grow with them as they gain skills in usage.

Smart Living Email can be launched from an individual’s desktop and scaled to meet their particular skill level. From automated voice message recording and sending to typing text and reading, Smart Living Email can meet a wide range of needs. For multi-user environments such as an agency computer lab, AbleLink’s Smart Living Desktop software can be deployed to allow for an unlimited number of Smart Living Email users on a single machine.

Smart Living Email is available as stand-alone software but is ideally deployed as part of the Smart Living Suite 3.0. The Smart Living Suite includes all five of the current AbleLink software programs for Windows, designed to interact through the Smart Living Desktop.

Web Trek

Safe and secure internet access is a goal for everyone, but often seems out of reach for people with cognitive barriers to computer use. AbleLink has been doing research and development in this area for over 20 years, releasing our first cognitively accessible web browser in the late 1990’s. Our latest product in this area, Web Trek, employs a clean picture and audio interface to provide a smooth internet experience.

The Smart Living Desktop software makes it possible to create buttons for specific websites or categories of interest. In Web Trek, sites can be visited without ads, sidebars, or other content that clutters the interface. In addition, Web Trek can be scaled for many levels of cognitive ability, from a static interface that does not allow links to other sites to a complete web experience that includes safe searching and printing.

Web Trek’s picture-based safe search tool includes images and audio prompts to guide the user in narrowing down wide ranges of content into manageable lists. Administrators have several choices for the final search engine once Web Trek has simplified the list.

Web Trek is available as stand-alone software but is ideally deployed as part of the Smart Living Suite 3.0. The Smart Living Suite includes all five of the current AbleLink software programs for Windows, designed to interact through the Smart Living Desktop.

Visual Media Player

Finding and playing videos, music, and other media can be frustrating for any computer user. What makes access difficult for some people can make it impossible for others, especially those who cannot read or easily navigate drop-down menus and file structures. With Visual Media Player, content can be opened and enjoyed without the clutter and confusion. The AbleLink picture and audio interface opens new doors for everyday computer use, regardless of cognitive ability.

The Visual Media player interface can be scaled for many levels of cognitive ability, from a static interface to visual buttons for full control of playback. In a multi-user Smart Living Desktop system, customized desktops can access content tailored to individual interests and needs.

The Smart Living Desktop software makes it possible to create buttons for videos, songs, playlists, and groups of content in specific categories. This content is seamlessly blended with email, weather, news, and other resources in a simplified environment.
