Description:

Culturally-Linguistically Augmentative and Alternative Communication Interprofessional Practice (CLRP-AAC IPP) series has been developed as an interprofessional education opportunity to provide individualized training for specific team professionals. Series Part 1 will bridge the research-to-practice gap, providing strategies that support interprofessional collaboration for speech-language pathologists working with physical therapists in AAC service delivery for students with motor limitations within the school setting. The presenter will present evidence-based practices to guide speech-language pathologists in collaborating with physical therapists within the school setting. Moreover, the presentation will describe the significance of the physical therapist’s knowledge base in selecting AAC strategies and methods necessary to meet the communication goals and objectives. This presentation will guide speech-language pathologists, family members, and regular and special education teachers in working with physical therapists.
