Description:

This interactive session will explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools can enhance and complement traditional Assistive Technology (AT) to support students with learning disabilities. Participants will gain practical strategies to promote responsible and purposeful student use of AI by increasing awareness, training, utilization, and curriculum integration. The presenter will share a roadmap with examples of conducting a needs assessment, fostering a collaborative team culture, navigating ethical considerations, and designing practical training for students, staff, and families. Additionally, this session will highlight preliminary outcomes, key insights, and continuous improvement efforts from a pilot student AI implementation initiative. Attendees will leave with actionable tools and approaches that will allow them to consider integrating AI thoughtfully into their educational practices.

Learning Outcomes:

As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:

• Identify at least three AI tools related to their practice area.

• Articulate at least three ways in which AI tools can be integrated into their settings.

• Identify at least three challenges and ethical considerations associated with using AT and AI.
