Description:

In this session, participants will explore key challenges faced by special education teachers, including adapting content to diverse student needs, addressing accessibility gaps, and managing time constraints. We will examine social stigmas around the profession and highlight the lack of support in implementing complex IEPs and curricula. Using Boom Passport as an example, I will demonstrate how technology can offer scalable lesson adaptation, student data tracking, and professional development. We will discuss real-world issues like insufficient training, overextended work hours, and the misconception that special education teaching is less demanding. The session will conclude with strategies to overcome these barriers and enhance instructional effectiveness and how to implement Boom Passport into their daily routine.

Learning Outcomes:

As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:

• Describe at least 3 current educational hurdles that teachers have to address in their classrooms.

• Identify 3 benefits of utilizing Boom Passport in their classroom.
