Description:

This course is a basic overview of 3D printing. We will be starting from concept and continue to print-ready files. Participants will learn what 3D printing is and the different types of 3D printing. We will explore websites and social media to find and download pre-made models, find and use software and websites to design and create models, then finalize models and prepare them to print. There will be examples of items created for students and how they were used. A link to a document listing 3D printing resources will be provided and open to edit so that attendees may add other resources they use.

Learning Outcomes:

As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:

• Describe 3D printing and name at least 3 different types of 3D printing.

• Locate at least 5 different 3D models and download them to their computer.

• Utilize a free design program to make a simple shape design and export the design as a 3D file to print.
