Description:
As generative artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly integrated into educational and clinical practices, Assistive Technology practitioners, educators and therapists should be aware of the ethical implications of using these tools for data collection, report writing, IEP goal development, AAC device programming, Assistive Technology supports, and therapy material creation. This session will examine how professionals in the field of AT can adhere to FERPA, HIPAA, and best practices of service delivery all while embracing the use of generative AI.
Learning Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:
• Identify 3 ethical considerations related to the use of generative AI in documentation and service delivery.
• Identify 3 benefits of using generative AI for data collection, report writing, goal formulation, provision of accessible materials, or therapy material generation.
• Identify 3 strategies for responsibly integrating generative AI tools into their workflow while maintaining clinical/educational judgment and accountability.
