Description:
This session will address common challenges that speech-language pathologists face during AAC assessment and implementation. Informed by recent qualitative research and expert interviews with SLPs and Assistive Technology Specialists, we will introduce evidence-based solutions for streamlining workflows and achieving system-wide AAC buy-in across administrators, service providers, AAC users, and families.
Learning Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:
• Describe three barriers to AAC assessment and implementation.
• Identify three components in the AAC competency framework.
• As a result of this presentation, participants will be able to prioritize one key next step for introducing evidence-based, scalable AAC solutions to their institution.
