Description:

In this powerful monologue session, Jessica will share her journey as an AAC user, author, actress, and disability advocate. Attendees will hear how she found her voice through writing The Non-Verbal Princess, a book that redefines non-verbal identity through storytelling, and how her roles in film and TV have allowed her to break barriers in media representation. Jessica will also reflect on her experience with modeling and public speaking, offering an honest look at the challenges and triumphs of being a voice for the disability community. Participants will gain insight into the role AAC plays in building autonomy and career pathways, and leave inspired by Jessica’s resilience and vision.

Learning Outcomes:

• Describe at least three ways AAC can support self-expression and identity development for individuals with disabilities.

• Identify two barriers faced by AAC users in professional and creative industries, and strategies to address them.

• Reflect on the impact of authentic representation in media and literature for people with complex communication needs.
