Description:
This presentation explores how interdisciplinary teams—including SLPs, OTs, PTs, ATPs and families—collaborate to support individuals using AAC from device acquisition to implementation. Interdisciplinary collaboration is fundamental during the assessment process and has a lasting impact on the selection and effectiveness of equipment, such as mobility aids, AAC devices, and adaptive tools to ensure long-term success for complex communicators. Through case studies and real-world examples, participants will gain practical strategies for fostering continuity of care, matching equipment to the needs of individuals with diverse diagnoses, and ensuring interventions remain effective and person-centered across all life stages. Actionable insights and resources will help professionals optimize communication and mobility outcomes for individuals with complex needs.
