Description:
In this session you will learn about Bookshare, a FREE accessible ebook library for students with reading barriers and how it fits into the UDL Framework. You will hear firsthand from a Minnesota based educator how their district utilizes Bookshare and impacts their students with reading barriers. Bookshare makes your classroom more inclusive by providing your students access to grade-level content in formats that work for them. By providing Multiple Means of Engagement, Representation, and Action and Expression, students can learn in the ways that work for them.
Learning Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:
• Describe how accessible digital materials support UDL principles by designing flexible options for engagement, representation, and expression.
• Explain how audiobooks help remove barriers to learning for students with print disabilities.
• Identify which students qualify for Bookshare and demonstrate how to get them free access.
