Description:

Using the UDL guidelines of engagement, representation, action/expression, this poster will offer accessibility features of mainstream technology that align with those guidelines. This is a quick reference guide that allows educators to feature-match and identify tools they have at their disposal (iOS and Chromebook) to provide multiple means of engagement and for students to demonstrate their knowledge. Awareness of UDL tools gives teachers the power to implement interventions before contacting a specialist for intensive interventions/multidisciplinary problem solving. This quick reference can be taken back to districts to present to stakeholders as a training tool for building capacity amongst their teachers. This model has proven to be effective amongst the districts served by our cooperative that are working towards more inclusive practices.

Learning Outcomes:

As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:

• Demonstrate an understanding of how mainstream technology can be used as a tool for UDL.

• Utilize this resource as a tool to build capacity with their district's stakeholders.

• Identify when more intensive interventions are necessary for a student beyond the tier one interventions.
