Experience

Joseph Ahuna is a school-based speech-language pathologist (SLP) in the KKP complex area on the Big Island of Hawaii. His interest in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) was sparked during a LAMP training session led by John Halloran, CCC-SLP, in 2020. Since then, his passion has flourished through participation in national conferences like ATIA and Closing the Gap. In his role as the current SLP V coordinator in the KKP Complex Area, he is dedicated to educating teachers, parents, and professionals about the benefits and power of AAC. He finds joy in working directly with students in the classroom and helping them discover the power of communication. In his spare time, Joseph enjoys creating content on YouTube (search: @speechwithjoe) to encourage and inspire the use of AAC.
