In this session, Janette Barrios from Apple’s Global Accessibility Policy & Initiatives team will provide an overview of Apple’s newest accessibility features and how they address user needs in areas of speech, hearing, cognitive, mobility and vision. The session will highlight features like Accessibility Reader, the new systemwide reading mode, Eye Tracking and Head Tracking on iPad and iPhone, and explore powerful new features on Mac such as Magnifier and Vehicle Motion Cues. Learn about updates to hearing innovations including Live Listen with Live Captions. Janette will offer a high-level look at these tools and how they enable meaningful independence for people with disabilities. Attendees will also be guided to resources and demos for further hands-on exploration.
Janette Barrios is a senior manager for Accessibility Policy & Initiatives at Apple. With 20 years at the company, she works on raising awareness of Apple’s accessibility innovation and initiatives, including technology such as the VoiceOver screenreader for people who are blind, assistive hearing features, accessibility in education, enterprise and government, as well as other initiatives that support disability communities worldwide and Apple’s culture of inclusion.
