Joseph Slaninka

Experience

Joe is an assistant teacher in the adapted physical education department. Joe has been employed at the Henry Viscardi School for 30 years. He was instrumental in creating the HVS Wheelchair Basketball Program, where students with disabilities learn to play, practice good sportsmanship and teamwork. Joe is a wheelchair athlete, certified scuba diver and avid sky diver. He is a client of Gamut Management Company, where people with disabilities are encouraged to work towards their dreams in the entertainment industry. Joe created the Viscardi Ambassadors Disability Awareness Program, where he and his students present a program to school-aged children to promote differences of those with physical disabilities. Joe is a the Board President for the Spina Bifida Association of New York State and an Advocate for the Hydrocephalus Association.
