Experience

Ann Mayes has worked in the field of special education for more than 35 years. She was a teacher of deaf/hard of hearing in a variety of settings, including self-contained classrooms, a charter school, and as an itinerant teacher. During her time as a teacher of deaf/hard of hearing, Ann was a cooperating teacher for student teachers and mentored many teachers both in the field of deaf/hard of hearing as well as other special education areas. Ann is currently the program specialist for the Minnesota Mentor Program. Ann firmly believes that mentoring makes a huge impact on all teachers and especially in low-incidence disability fields. When she’s not working, she’s also an avid indoor gardener and knitter, especially for her young granddaughters.
