Description:

Effectively mounting AAC and AT devices is essential for ensuring safe, consistent, and independent access. However, choosing the right mounting solution can be overwhelming, particularly for those less familiar with mounting systems. This session introduces CJT’s simplified 6-step mounting process, offering clear guidance on how to assess and select a mount tailored to the individual’s specific needs. Participants will engage in hands-on demonstrations and explore real-world examples that build confidence in identifying practical, user-centered solutions. The session also features the CJT ET Roller—a versatile tool that promotes play and exploration while helping therapists uncover a user’s interests, motor abilities, and potential access methods. Attendees will leave equipped with strategies to select appropriate mounting systems that support effective and meaningful device use across a range of environments.

Learning Outcomes:

As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:

• Describe the importance of effective mounting in supporting safe and independent access to AAC and AT devices.

• Describe and apply each step of CJT’s 6-step mounting process.

• Demonstrate confidence in recommending mounting systems that support device use across various settings.
