More and more assistive technology tools are readily available to students and in diverse school settings. You may even have some of these tools in your pocket?! But how do you know what you have? The assistive technology program in Fairfax County Public Schools, Virginia offers four promotional practices and strategies that foster assistive technology use within a universal design for learning framework. Explore how these approaches may enhance assistive technology use within your own educational environment. AT is everywhere!

Learning Outcomes:

As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:

• Identify and describe four categories of assistive technology promotional practices that successfully foster student assistive technology use in a public school district.

• Analyze and differentiate how these four promotional practices may operate within a participant’s own educational setting. 

• Appraise and select promotional practices a participant may use to promote student assistive technology use within their individualized academic environment.
