Description:

This interactive session presents a dynamic, collaborative model for implementing assistive technology (AT) in community environments, uniting the specialized expertise of Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and Occupational Therapists (OTs). Attendees will explore interdisciplinary frameworks and practical tools that enhance communication and functional independence across diverse settings. Through case-based discussions and real-world implementation strategies, the session emphasizes sustainable, person-centered solutions. Special focus will be given to integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into collaboration planning, assessment, and execution. Participants will receive customizable templates, accountability checklists, and technology applications to support AT use beyond clinical environments and into everyday life.

Learning Outcomes:

As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:

• Differentiate the collaborative roles of Speech-Language Pathologists and Occupational Therapists in assistive technology (AT) assessment and intervention, and apply interdisciplinary frameworks to support client-centered solutions.

• Evaluate effective, community-based strategies and case examples for implementing AT across diverse settings and populations.

• Utilize artificial intelligence (AI)-supported tools, templates, and documentation methods to enhance collaboration, communication opportunities, and follow-through in real-world AT applications.
