Description:
Capacity building is the buzzword of the hour in assistive technology world. However, not all organizations are working with the same with same dynamics. What may work in a small affluent district will not transfer to more SES challenged or large organizations. Sometimes you have to build and rebuild processes. This session will explore the multitude of resources that are already out there, discuss what works for different organizations, and how to approach the all important issue of administrative support. This session will use information collected from experience across eighteen districts/organizations, including a Joy Zabala Fellowship Partnership this past year. The goal of the session is to prepare attendees to navigate teambuilding through free resources, UDL, and MTSS approaches to hopefully find a niche for success.
Learning Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:
• Participants will identify two sources of ongoing AT networking to continue building connections following Closing the Gap.
• Identify 3 free online resources to use when creating forms and process to fit their organization.
• Identify solutions of how to navigate two common pitfalls to creating AT process and capacity building.
