Description:
As eye gaze manufacturers, we believe personalization is key to ensuring an optimal and independent experience for every user. This session explores “Customizing Eye Gaze Setups for Diverse User Profiles on iPad,” moving beyond communication app selection to focus on the technical foundations of inclusion.
Using the Oskol 2, we will demonstrate how hardware and software configurations can be tailored to meet unique needs in any scenario. A “one-size-fits-all” approach often leaves complex users behind; therefore, we will focus on the technical “bridge” between the user and the device. Participants will gain actionable strategies for master positioning, calibration, and parameter adjustments (dwell time, smoothing) to foster true digital independence across communication, education, and social media platforms.
Learning Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:
• Identify three specific features in iOS that facilitate eye gaze interaction within both communication apps and non-accessibility-native iPad applications.
• Describe specific eye gaze parameter adjustments within communication apps for three distinct user profiles: the student with visual fatigue, the user with high spasticity/involuntary movements, and the emergent communicator.
• Demonstrate the correct sequence of steps for user positioning and calibration to ensure an accurate system map for IRISBOND eye-trackers during communication app implementation.
