Description:

This session will present a structured model for implementing technology-enabled supports in I/DD services through the combined approach of ShiftAbility and the Heylo platform. Participants will be guided through the full implementation sequence, including identifying appropriate candidates, designing hybrid staffing models, deploying assistive technologies, and operationalizing remote support workflows. The session will highlight real-world case examples demonstrating reductions in overnight staffing, increased independence, and improved safety outcomes. Attendees will examine specific tools, including sensors, communication devices, and remote monitoring systems, and will be introduced to a practical readiness and implementation framework. Participants will leave with concrete strategies and tools to replicate this model within their own organizations.

Learning Outcomes:

As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:

• 1. Identify at least three characteristics of individuals and residential settings that are appropriate for implementing technology-enabled remote supports.

• 2. Create a four-step implementation plan for integrating assistive technology and remote supports into an existing residential service model.

• 3. Analyze staffing models by comparing traditional overnight staffing to hybrid technology-enabled models and calculating at least one area of potential efficiency gain.
