Financial Disclosure: Donnie TC Denome is employed by and receives a salary from the State of Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. They also occasionally perform freelance accessibility consulting and remediation services under contract, including previously with AAC company AssistiveWare. They are presenting at Closing the Gap in a personal capacity. Non-financial Disclosure: Donnie TC Denome is an AAC user who has used a variety of different AAC methods, systems, and applications. They currently use a Zuvo 12 dedicated device from Smartbox/Talk to Me Technologies running Grid 3.
Experience
Donnie TC Denome (they/them) is an AAC user, autistic self-advocate, health educator, graphic designer, and award-winning journalist. They hold a master’s of public health degree from Claremont Graduate University with a focus in health education for people with intellectual, communication, and developmental disabilities. Donnie has worked in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors as a knowledge translation specialist and accessible communications coordinator, with a focus on plain language and cognitive accessibility for people with intellectual disability and limited literacy. Their work focuses on promoting autonomy, self-determination, and inclusion for all people with disabilities. Donnie was a 2023-2024 LEND fellow and was previously a member of an NIH Autism Center of Excellence research team.
