Experience
James “Jim” Engracia is a speech-language pathologist at EncompassNW (Snoqualmie, WA) specializing in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), Autism, and neurodiversity-affirming intervention. Jim has worked across clinical, consultative, and school-based settings to support individuals with complex communication needs. He has been a presenter at the local, national, and international level. He frequently trains multidisciplinary teams on inclusive, autonomy-focused AAC practices. He supervises graduate students and SLPAs, providing opportunities to learn about AAC and neurodiverse practices in real world applications. Drawing from years of hands-on experience and evidence-based strategies, Jim brings practical insight to supporting communication as a human right. His current focus includes promoting self-advocacy in AAC users and ensuring access to emotionally relevant vocabulary across environments.
