Krista Howard

Experience

Krista is a lifelong AAC user who has used communication devices since age five due to a disability affecting her speech and left arm. Her lived experience drives her passion for supporting individuals with complex communication needs. She has worked as an AAC Technician at Gompers, providing peer modeling and support, and has mentored and trained AAC users across teletherapy, classrooms, and adult day programs. Krista also presents at conferences, sharing her experiences to promote effective AAC use. She is a single mother who enjoys spending time with her son and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Education Studies at Arizona State University while completing her SLPA program at Northern Arizona University. Her goal is to become one of the first SLPAs who is an AAC user.
