Dr. Baguhn receives a full-time salary from the American Foundation for the Blind, where she serves as research specialist. Dr. Baguhn receives a part-time salary from Western Michigan University, where she coordinates the Assistive Technology graduate certificate, and teaches courses in assistive tech and braille. Dr. Baguhn receives royalties from books authored.
Experience
Sarahelizabeth Baguhn, PhD has taught Assistive Technology skills for a public-school district and to adults in the community as a private contractor. She holds ACVREP’s CATIS & COMS as well as a Wisconsin TVI license. Now a Research Specialist for the American Foundation for the Blind she studies the interactions between blindness and other areas of American life, including barriers to digital inclusion and the interactions between artificial intelligence and disability. When not researching or teaching electronic travel aids or other classes for Western Michigan University, she enjoys time with her young children, half-marathons, and Pokémon Go. Dr. Baguhn serves as Vice Chair of the board of directors for the ACVREP, the subject matter expert committee for Assistive Technology with ACVREP, as well as the Advisory Council for Audio Description.
