Description:
This session will demonstrate how the native iOS Shortcuts App can be used as an assistive technology tool to enhance student autonomy and independence. Participants will receive an overview of the iOS App – Shortcuts, its functions, and how triggers create automations. Presenters will share three case studies using a problem-to-solution framework that utilize iOS Shortcuts and automations as tools to amplify student success. Streamlined workflows and automated tasks will be showcased to demonstrate how shortcuts and automations can serve as powerful and highly customizable assistive technology tools to reduce cognitive load and physical demand for learners. Attendees will leave with the knowledge and confidence to use the iOS Shortcuts app for building simple shortcuts, complex automations and the capacity to customize solutions that can evolve alongside changing needs.
Learning Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:
• As a result of this activity, participants will be able to identify three ways the iOS Shortcuts application can be used as an Assistive Technology tool to enhance student autonomy.
• As a result of this activity, participants will be able to explain how to create and design a custom shortcut/automation for an iOS device.
• As a result of this activity, participants will be able to build a custom AT solution using a shortcut or automation within the iOS Shortcuts application.
