Experience

Katie is an Assistive Technology Specialist in the area of Computer Access with Special School District of St. Louis County. She has been an occupational therapist for 27 years. She has worked in various settings including hospitals, schools, and outpatient clinics. She has a special interest in helping students with complex bodies be more independent and access their environments through the use of powered mobility. She supports students of all ages with all different disabilities. She collaborates with IEP teams to identify, implement, and integrate assistive technology tools to reduce or eliminate barriers and help students show what they know. She provides assistive technology to help students do things that they struggle with in an easier, faster, or better way. Katie provides district wide professional development on powered mobility and supporting students who use switches to communicate and access the curriculum.
