Description:
Explore the Guided Hands® Occupational Therapy Guide — a new clinical resource reframing Guided Hands®, the award-winning assistive technology, as a powerful upper limb rehabilitation tool for children and adults! Beyond writing and drawing, Guided Hands® targets active range of motion, motor endurance, and functional independence by harnessing gross motor shoulder movements instead of limited fine motor hand control. Participants will learn to set up Guided Hands® and apply client-centered adaptations for high tone, low tone, spasticity, tremors, and visual impairments, and explore play-based activities tied directly to individualized education program and rehabilitation goals. Presented by Lianna Genovese, CEO & Founder of ImaginAble Solutions, who invented Guided Hands® for her friend with Cerebral Palsy, and Stephanie Hui, pediatric occupational therapist and assistive technology professional.
Learning Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:
• As a result of this activity, participants will be able to describe and apply a structured clinical framework from the Guided Hands® Occupational Therapy Guide to assess a client’s upper limb mobility profile, select appropriate device adaptations, and match activity parameters to individualized education program or rehabilitation goals for clients with varying presentations including high tone, low tone, spasticity, and tremors.
• As a result of this activity, participants will be able to demonstrate correct setup, fitting, and adaptation of the Guided Hands® device for a minimum of three distinct client presentations, and implement at least two goal-directed activities from the Guided Hands® Occupational Therapy Guide that target measurable outcomes such as active range of motion, crossing midline, motor endurance, and functional independence
• As a result of this activity, participants will be able to distinguish between Guided Hands® as an educational access tool and as an active upper limb rehabilitation device, and differentiate which play-based and goal-directed activities from the Guided Hands® Occupational Therapy Guide are most appropriate for pediatric individualized education program goals versus adult rehabilitation goals based on client presentation and functional targets.
Disclosures:
Lianna has a financial relationship as she is the owner of the company that sells Guided Hands®.
