Description:

Participants will experience a free digital Assistive Technology (AT) Exploratorium that sparks possibilities for inclusive learning and classroom access. The session will begin by examining why searching for AT supports often leads to overwhelm and stalled implementation. Attendees will then experience an immersive, clickable visual classroom where AT tools, software, and strategies are integrated into authentic learning environments. Participants will observe how the Exploratorium’s embedded catalog provides concise guidance explaining what a support is, how to use it, and why it matters, alongside examples from real classrooms. A guided case demonstration will illustrate how the platform supports decision-making during IEP meetings, coaching conversations, and collaborative planning. Participants will leave prepared to spark inclusive possibilities and expand access for learners using this open-access tool.

Learning Outcomes:

As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:

• Analyze a learner case example and differentiate at least two functional barriers to determine an appropriate assistive technology exploration pathway within the Digital AT Exploratorium.

• Evaluate two assistive technology tools, strategies, or software options by comparing their features, intended use, and classroom application using the Exploratorium’s embedded guidance pages.

• Develop one actionable next step for implementing an assistive technology support by referencing a contextual classroom example and identifying how the support will be used within a specific routine or setting.
