Description:
Artificial intelligence is in education, yet many educators lack practical skills of how AI can responsibly support their daily work. This session introduces KAIIT (Kairo Artificial Intelligence IEP Tool), an educator-developed AI Master-Prompt (or Google Gem) designed to assist teachers in organizing and drafting Individualized Education Program (IEP) components. Using structured prompting strategies, AI can synthesize information from multiple documents—including transcripts, teacher reports, evaluations, assessment data, and progress reports—into clear narrative summaries that educators review and refine. Participants will see and practice with AI in create different parts of the the IEP process, while maintaining full educator oversight. The session also explores ethical considerations and responsible AI use in special education. Attendees will leave with practical strategies for using AI as an assistive tool to reduce documentation workload and stress, while improving clarity in educational communication.
Learning Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:
• Compose a clear narrative summary by synthesizing information from multiple educational documents (e.g., evaluations, progress reports, and assessment data) using structured AI prompting.
• Evaluate the ethical, instructional, and workload implications of using AI tools in special education and assistive technology environments.
• Participants will apply the structured AI prompting strategies to generate educational documentation for their caseloads.
Disclosures:
I am employed as a special education teacher at Holmen High School. I receive a salary from my employment. I do not receive financial compensation related to KAIIT (Kairo Artificial Intelligence IEP Tool), and the tool is shared freely with educators.
