Experience

A career educator, Lisa Yokana is currently an educational consultant specializing in innovation. She was the STEAM coordinator at Scarsdale High School for 15 years, where she created and taught a three-level STEAM course sequence in Scarsdale’s Design Lab, which she designed for the school district. In 2019, the program won the gold medal in the STEAMEX international contest in Shanghai for innovative curriculum design. Lisa works with teachers across disciplines to integrate Design Thinking, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Making into their curriculum. She coached IDEO’s Teachers Guild and co-taught Project Zero/Harvard Graduate School of Education’s online classes: Thinking and Learning in the Maker-Centered Classroom and Maker-Centered Learning. Lisa taught social entrepreneurship at Iona University’s Hynes Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, where she also served as Designer in Residence. Most recently, Lisa became a founding member of the Next World Learning Lab, a global consulting company where she serves as the Chief Operating Officer. Lisa is Vice Chair of the Board of Adaptive Design Association. Lisa earned her BA from Williams College, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and her Master's Degree in Art History from Columbia University. She also holds a degree in District-Level Administration from Stony Brook University.
