An Inclusion Oriented Approach for All Learners is a professional learning experience for administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service staff focused on supporting all learners in the areas of membership and belonging, participation and learning.

Participants will explore the evolution of inclusion and anchor themselves in the Foundations of Inclusion based on the definition provided by the Maryland Coalition for Inclusive Education. Participants will discuss the Beyond Access Model and the Indicators of Inclusion from the Maryland Coalition for Inclusive Education where they will engage in dialogue, self reflection and action planning.

Participants will be able to utilize structures and tools from the session to design action items for student success. The session will conclude with participants developing individualized next steps related to inclusive practices.

As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the Foundations of Inclusive Practices: Place, Membership & Belonging, Meaningful Participation, Learning Grade-Level Aligned Curriculum.

  • Discuss the benefits of inclusive education based on research and experts in the field.

  • Create an individualized next step related to inclusive schooling in their district.

Jessica Boraca M.A. Learning Behavior Specialist, District Inclusion Specialist for Northbrook – Glenview District #30. Within this role, Jessica supports educators in inclusive practices for all, engagement strategies within content areas in both elementary and middle school classrooms, differentiation of curriculum, and behavior support. Jessica also supports administrators, coaches and staff members in their facilitation and structure of collaborative and high performing teams. She is also a certified Adaptive Schools agency trainer.
