Description:
Given the diversity of today’s expanding early childhood population, from cultural to communication, bilingual to multilingual learners, students with physical access and behavioral needs, it can be challenging to provide an inclusive learning environment for our youngest learners. How do we work towards an inclusive early childhood classroom while supporting individual needs?
Come along the journey as we dig deep into the early childhood classroom design, examining how the physical, social and temporal environments influence the learning experience of children. Participants will examine check-lists, tools, resources and practices that are essential in any UDL childhood setting as we take you throughout the early childhood school day. From literacy to math, play, art and music, teams will gain ideas to examine and re-design their own ways to increase growth and learning for students through extended supports and technology. Through a make and take portion, we will create materials to use in the early childhood classroom that support active, inclusive and meaningful participation of ALL young learners.
