Description: Do you have students with complex communication needs and Cortical Vision Impairment who struggle to use robust augmentative and alternative communication systems because they can’t see and can’t point to a large array of symbols? Is the team stuck with finding ways for students to access devices with switches? We cannot pass these students by! Instead, we can pass them robust vocabulary through Partner Assisted Auditory Scanning (PAAS). This method doesn’t require students to look, point or use switches accurately. This training will focus on multiple areas from teaching language, PAAS, and in parallel, teaching switch access through over the top, motivating literacy and leisure activities. Professionals will have opportunities to tryout strategies, develop kid plans, and set up switch activities. Come join the fun!
