Length: 90-Minutes

The Center on Inclusive Technology in Education Systems (CITES) believes that effective technology leadership promotes the development of a balanced and inclusive technology infrastructure that examines assistive technology (AT), educational technology (EdTech), and information technology (InfoTech) as part of a technology ecosystem. Inclusive technology systems in school districts directly increase the learning opportunities for students with disabilities, but also provide benefit system wide to all students.

This webinar will highlight effective technology leadership practices that create and maintain inclusive technology ecosystems with the lens of where we have been, where we are, and where would like to go. The session will introduce the CITES Leadership Field Guide that assists districts in establishing such a system. We will specifically guide participates on how to create a collaborative team of diverse stakeholders in the development of a community-wide vision for technology use and create a strategic technology implementation plan.

In this session, participants can expect: 1) an introduction to the CITES Framework 2) a guided walk through of the components of creating an inclusive technology vision and strategic technology implementation plan, and 3) stories and expert advise from a CITES exemplar district. Free tools and templates are included in this session.

This webinar will focus on digital tools that help students stay better organized and engaged in learning. Participants will leave with tools that they can use in their instruction and in their digital environments to help support all students with executive functioning skills.

This webinar will end with a discussion of how these digital tools and methods can be blended with in-classroom supports for a more seamless transition between digital and classroom learning as students move from one environment to the other.

As a result of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of creating an inclusive technology vision and putting that vision into action.

  • Take the initial steps of writing or analyzing a community-wide technology vision.

  • Take the initial steps of analyzing or creating a district strategic technology plan or identifying areas for strengthening inclusiveness and robustness of an existing plan.
