Drive by Eye™

Ability Drive® with Drive by Eye™ Technology gives you the power to be independently mobile in your powered wheelchair using eye gaze movements.

Tolt Technologies Ability Drive® is an alternative control interface that enables you to control a powered wheelchair with your eyes. Using virtual buttons and eye gaze technology, people who are not able to use a joystick can regain movement and seat positioning independence.

How it works

Tolt Technologies Ability Drive® is a combination of hardware and an app. The Ability Drive® app runs on an approved eye gaze device. The app senses your gaze on virtual buttons which send directional movement commands to the Ability Drive® hardware interface. These buttons overlay the forward camera view. Looking at the stop button, looking away from the computer, or closing your eyes stops wheelchair movement.

The App

The ADT

The ADT is the Ability Drive® hardware interface. In combination with the app, the ADT connects the eye-gaze device to the power wheelchair and enables the user to drive using only their eyes. 

A Compatible Eye-Gaze Device

An approved eye-gaze device is used to run the Ability Drive® app. Only tested devices are safe and compatible to use with Ability Drive®.

A Mount for the Eye-gaze Device

The eye-gaze device must be mounted to the power wheelchair. We recommend Mount’n Mover or Rehadapt.

A Compatible Power Wheelchair

Ability Drive® can be installed on a compatible power wheelchair with a 9-pin port for alternative controls.
