I’m the parent of a daughter who has dysgraphia and some fine motor issues. This means that she struggled with handwriting from the beginning of her school experience. We tried various tools to help her, but none had all the right features for math—and the unique, complex formatting it requires compared to written language.

It hurt my heart to see what she went through, because for kids with dysgraphia or other handwriting issues, the challenge doesn’t begin and end with a particular homework assignment—it can have a huge impact on workload, self-esteem, and even future career options. That’s why I decided to develop KiwiWrite using my own background as a computer scientist, a math person, a design hobbyist, and a parent.

Today, my daughter is thriving in college. She’s not only my inspiration for KiwiWrite but also my valued consultant, testing prototypes and advising on aspects like fonts, images, and how things are arranged. Whether you’re a parent, teacher, or kid reading this, my hope is that the lessons I learned the hard way over the years can make math easier for you.

I’m proud and delighted to share KiwiWrite Math with you.

Marcia

WHAT IS KIWIWRITE MATH?

Their mission at KiwiWrite Math is to make math accessible.

  • Is it hard for your child to keep numbers organized when solving math problems?
  • Is writing math on paper exhausting for them?
  • Are they becoming overwhelmed and falling behind?

This could be due to dysgraphia, dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, or fine motor impairments. Or, they might just not enjoy handwriting math. We’re here to help!

KiwiWrite Math is an alternative to pencil-and-paper math. Designed for students who struggle to handwrite math automatically and legibly, our assistive technology does the writing so the student can concentrate on solving the math.

KiwiWrite Math is a web-based application that gives students an on-screen interface to write math equations on their computers or tablets. They simply have to click or tap the numbers and symbols they want to add to the page. Keyboards are supported too!

KiwiWrite has four different math levels to give students the tools they need – without the visual clutter.
