Description: The gap between what we know is best practice and what we are seeing in practice, lead us to the tackling four primary issues – what does presumed competence as a starting point look like, what does high quality instruction look like when implementing AAC and literacy, what is the relationship and interconnection between AAC and vision when the ultimate goal is robust language, and how we approach cultural responsiveness by honoring the individual and the environment we are observing them, thereby creating trusting partnerships. We will cover over 20 intentional strategies and components of mentorship that speak to these issues.
